This pasta is crafted in Abruzzo, Italy, by Pastificio Giuseppe Cocco, using durum wheat semolina, bronze-die extrusion, and slow air-drying. Penne rigate are short, diagonally cut tubes with ridges along the surface. The ridges provide extra grip, making them ideal for hearty sauces like tomato ragùs, creamy cheese sauces, or baked casseroles. This is one of the most versatile and widely loved pasta shapes in Italy.
